Mini Landscape Sketches on Zoom 10/25 - 10am -1pm
Join Jen on Zoom and learn how she makes mini landscape sketches.
October 25, 10am - 1pm Eastern Time.
Over 3 hours we will look at landscape images, talk about abstracting the images, and get into cutting fabric and stitching. Students should be able to finish several sketches, depending on how quickly individual decisions are made, and how quickly you stitch.
Jen will go over some finishing options for sketches at the end of class, and students will be given access to a video tutorial on finishing a collection of sketches into a fabric book.
Supplies
Background - fat quarter of neutral fabric or sky colors
Scraps for landscape features
Thread for stitching - 8 or 12 weight cotton preferred, but anything will work
Needle to match thread - Jen recommends Sue Spargo Milliner’s #3
Pins - short appliqué pins are nice if you have them
Iron is optional
Sharp scissors
Supplies for finishing depend on the individual. Wrapping your piece on a canvas frame is so fun. For that you need an artist canvas, a sewing machine, extra fabric and a staple gun.
Class is suitable for beginner to more advanced sewists. If you are not a stitcher but still want to play, join us! This has been successful with paper collage as well. Jen is very tolerant of exploration in class.
